Good for Snapper, in particular in shallow reefy, rocky, weedy areas that you would expect kina to be.

If you want it to perhaps last longer and go further add stuff like breadcrumbs, cooked rice, even minced/squashed bait fish, fish oil...things like that....

Yea great berley for snaps, I would add bread crumbs and some woolworths catfood (pure fish), then cube some of the bait fish from your berley trail.

Should be about the best berley you can get mate. I always check the gut content of the snaps I get off the bricks and they're 9/10 full of crabs, kina or both.

Guess you've frozen it? One prob I've had with the commercial kina berley is that it melts very quickly, leaving a lot of shell fragments. You can get around this by putting it in a strong plastic bag and just cutting a small (3cm) hole in the bag.

Agree with what others have said about adding starchy absorptive bulking agents. White bread is my personal favourite, because you usually get floating pieces that head out in the trail and let you know if there are kahawai out back.

Interested to hear how you go.

yer i jsut crushed the whole kina's into a steel bowl and then into a plastic bottle, the shell fragments are very fine, im planing to use a screw driver to jab some holes in it so hope it lets out enough shell also, and yer its completly frozen

The ultimate fresh burley mate. Don't completely crush them... step on them hard enough to crack them and then toss them out whole... this holds them together like mini bombs that the snapper will get all worked up and competitive over... the bigger ones will be in the mood to storm in and knock the smaller fish out of the way... just what you want when you lob out a big juicy bait :)
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish caught will we realise we can't eat money.

If you want to make kina bombs then crush them up and mix chook or pig pellets with them, let the pellets soak up the yummy kina flavours for an hour or so then freeze.  Kina is the best snapper burley ever.
I waste most of my money on fishing tackle. The rest I invest in women and booze.

I wouldn't freeze "kina grenades" as they will float and take the fish away.
