Headed out from Raglan with Sam

The result

Great day. Had a shot lined up on the fourth dive down but left it. Then about 30 minutes later was schooled by about 20 of which this wasn't the largest but I had a good angle and got him with a sweet shot. Just under the 12kg mark. My Personal Best.

Then later when drifting beside the boat along the reef I had a line tangle with my stringer but decided it wasn't worth the effort so was looking around and saw an absolute monster (I thought it must be a shark at that size) so dropped down and saw a yellow tail on a massive kingiiee and as I lined up what I had little doubt would have been high 30's kg beast If not far more (compared to what I had speared earlier it was enormous and fat) then had second thoughts with a tangle rubbing beside my arm and tugging on my suit and at 8-10m thoughts of being dragged down so past up what would have been at best an average shot with a poor angle. 10 minutes later I saw another big shadow and when I dropped down I got close thinking this fish will be even bigger. and it was. A shark as long as me rubbing up the flasher rig. I thought since it was my first shark I have encountered and due to its size I'd peek out but I watched it for a little before returning to the boat and calling it a day.

Big thanks to Sam for taking me out.

Sam had some equipment failure that cost him a kingiiee. But on tanks he got cray quota. On the way back boat hit a mako but were to slow to retreve it before it sank. Got a few snappers on the rods and a big dory. And picked up 4-5 Kahawai as well through birds diving. Great day. Also some seals to swim with. Mean day out.

Thanks kina ball of come alone way in the past couple of years.

Nice fish, sounds like a good day out. Kudos for not taking the 50-50 shots, what kind of shark did you see and how clean was it out there?
BANNED from doing anything about anything anymore.

Looking for someone to help recover a very sentimental ring in the water at Raglan. A metal detector can be arranged. Contact me asap.
