Is invalid enter the entire error message?

I doubt it is virus related so I doubt AVG has anything to do with it.

Maybe you could try asking the same question on this forum http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp  , I have never experienced such a problem before so would be blind stabbing trying to diagnose it from afar.

What OS are you using? Have you tried the Telecom stick on another PC or laptop?

Maybe Telecom is correct and the XT network in your area is playing up? Vodafone and Telecom use different networks which is why one would work but not the other.

It might be worthwhile to download and run a registry cleaner. They can cause problems at times but it might help in this case.

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/tp/free-registry-cleaner-programs.htm

I do not like fiddling with the registry but it might be at fault.

He is using  Windows Vista/2008

Don't do a registry cleaner unless you know what you are doing....

The XT connection manager software is a piece of ****e, apparently.

Are you plugging it into the same USB port everytime?

Did you uninstall the previous connection manager before installing the new one from the flashdrive?

Now that you have the software on flashdrive,  unplug the T-stick and try uninstalling from Control Panel:

Control Panel - Programs and Features. Uninstall every version of connection manager that you see there. Make sure you have the T-stick unplugged when you uninstall and reboot.

Once it's rebooted, try plugging in the T-stick and see if it downloads connection manager automatically. If not, reinstall from your flashdrive.

It's worth a try...

A lot of the software released with Telecom products have pretty flakey uninstall executables that miss several important footprints including the registry keys.
Uninstalling the t-stick only may not work (fingers crossed it does) but if not you will need to also clear out several different areas of the OS regardless of the OS version.

Dont get a reg cleaner whatever you do, take it to a pro like me Embarrassed or some of the other lurkers in these forums that know their stuff. And be wary of small pc shops that will find all different kinds of reasons to upsell you to new hardware/software. It sounds as though its just misconfigured software.

Good luck Thumbs Up

have you tried a system restore to roll back the pc to an earlier point in time? not my fav way of resolving these issues but it comes in handy from time to time.

And DO NOT use a registry cleaner, most of the time they do more harm than good.

if you can get connected like you mentioned earlier, but have no data transfer, id recommend doing a ping test, go to start - run (or the search box in vista\windows 7) type cmd and press enter, type ping google.com press enter. you should get 4 replies like below

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ping google.com

Pinging google.com [74.125.127.103] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 74.125.127.103: bytes=32 time=218ms TTL=50
Reply from 74.125.127.103: bytes=32 time=218ms TTL=50
Reply from 74.125.127.103: bytes=32 time=218ms TTL=50
Reply from 74.125.127.103: bytes=32 time=218ms TTL=50

Ping statistics for 74.125.127.103:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 218ms, Maximum = 218ms, Average = 218ms

if you dont, then try pinging an ip address type ping 74.125.127.103 and press enter. If you get a reply from the IP address, but not the host name (google.com) you have a DNS problem, if you can ping both, its likely a browser issue, if you can ping neither it is likely something is blocking ports such as a firewall, or your TCP/IP stack could be bung.
