Just had an absolute terrible experience removing kina pins from my foot.

Do note that kina seems to stick through fin pockets. I Almost pissed my pants a few hours ago. If it wasn't for the beer, those ****ers would still have been in my feet.

try and avoid breaking up kina with your feet!

Most people use a rock. Do you have one of those kina bomb things?

I still have a piece over 10mm stuck in my big toe, stood on the ****er coming into the beach after a surf a few months back Angry.

The ******* quite deep, but it isn't causing any pain so I'm waiting for a good week of crap weather before I get it cut out.

Don't want to miss a chance to get out!

It's good to let them fester for a few days to build up a pool of pus around them and then they come out easier. Just dug one out of my finger yesterday.  How did you get it in your foot?
I got one in a tendon in my ankle once and had to have it surgically removed which really sucked.

Note the tweezers. Handy to have a set in your kit for this sort of thing. Geek

I usually do what TSW said. Plus soaking the skin can help - often they can just be squeezed out like that. Leaves a mean looking cavity in your flesh though Tongue

Kina can also inflict a pretty nasty bite. Be careful TG, its a jungle out there.

The puss-pool trick does it for me  Had a big one in fleshy part of the sole of my foot from standing on a kina in full scuba gear doing a surf entry...  Left it for a week and when squeezed the thing shot straight out.  Kinda cool to watch :)

I had a small piece stuck in the bone of my middle finger for a year; it has just disappeared, duno where . .
i tend to wiggle it loose with a needle then use tweezers.

Fucidine antibiotic creme (prescription) penetrates the skin and works a treat against infections when you put as much as you can on a plaster and refresh it 2-3x daily, also against wetsuit pimples!
saves you going through a course of aural antibios. . .
