Hi Guys,

I'm after a bait runner that will be used for straylining, this is basically something that will be placed in the rod holder while I softbait on the side. Has anyone of you tried Kilwell RXB 65? Any other inputs welcome. Cheers!

Second trip out I hooked the bottom and the reel seat snapped at the base.
Spend a bit more and get something solid imo
Stand up to be seen, speak up to be heard. BUT shut up to be appreciated.

Hi, you mean the reel seat of your rod? Were you using a Kilwell RXB 65 Baitfeeder? I read on their website that they have lifetime warranty on their items.

kilwell warranty is pretty good IMO!  but a life-time warranty isnt forever what it means legally to my understanding is is the expected life time of the product - be that 1 2 or 10 years

The reel snapped off where the foot mounts to the rod.
As it was a cheap reel I didn't get it replaced under warranty as I don't want another one that will do the same thing.
I would recommend you send a few more dollars and get something a bit better

Thanks for your input @tinfish, I thought Kilwell was a decent brand. I might just save up for a Shimano Baitrunner 6000 OC.
 
@smelli I saw a listing on Baitrunner 6500B, however I am more interested in getting a 6000 OC, for some reason I gravitate towards new stuff.

You're correct. OC -> D -> Thunnus. There's a DL-FB which is cheaper than OC, but only comes in 2500 and 4000.
 
Another option would be a Fin-Nor Bait Teaser BT60 (not BST), similar price to the OC but I'm not sure which is better among the 2. Hmmmm..

Finnor are good reels but im not sure which is better.

Maybe go an 8000D. Is only $20 more than the 6000D

My budget initially was for the 80$ Kilwell Reel, however, I have raised it to $ 170 to get the 6000 OC, the D version is a bit out of my budget range. Cry

I've had a kilwell baitfeeder for over ten years.
Caught hundreds of snapper on it up to 15lb, bashed it around on the rocks lots and it still goes ok.
Must of got a lucky one

I had one too but not the model currently on sale, but much older and probably 15 or so years old now. Prob same edition MS79 has. I still have it actually but its retired to shelf sitting and let mates who havent really fished before use it. 

Caught an 18kg king on it which pushed it to its limits. Caught a ton of smaller fish on it too and was never once taken in store for a service but well looked after at home.

was it a high-end model Kilwell baitfeeder? the RXB65, I think is a standard model, but has 9 bearings I believe.

Actually from memory it was an RXB80 so slightly bigger than the 65. Old as hell tho and probably not that comparable at all to todays models.

If anyone wants my RXB for parts they are welcome to it.
It has been used twice so is effectively brand new. Just cant be used without a reel foot on it....

Hmmmm, just send it for warranty and maybe sell it for a cheap price? In the meantime, I'm saving up for a baitrunner 6000 OC. Smile

Yeah, mine is also the RXB80.
Never been serviced, used it for kayak fishing last summer so it's had a bit of saltwater in it.
The drag is still smooth enough and everything running ok, might get one more season out of it
