Hi.. can someone help me with any good fishing spots out Pauanui ways that are relatively easy to get to? Any suggestions as to the best bait to use for whatever fish you're most likely to find there? I know how to cast.. that's about it - so any help is appreciated. Tah :)
) there are some rocks around the coast that you can fish off. pick a good place, not too weedy or fast current. as for bait, you can use anything from squid to pilchards, kahawai fillets, trevally fillets, prawns work well. you can pick some bait up from the local servo (gas station). use a ledger or dropper rig (link at bottom). cast out, wait for the sinker to sink to the bottom (leaving the reel free to take line). then put tention on the line so you can feel the bites, and hopefully be ready for the strike....
Snag city if ya fish that rig along that peice of coast. Its reasonably shallow foul with lots of kelp so i'd be inclined to strayline with unweighted or very lightly weighted baits.
thanks jordanM.. not sure I can follow how to make that rig...
sweet bud, thanks
