King fish get caught at that Warf, so if you have more than one rod then I would recommend having one with a livebait off there 15kg + minimum (not telling any experts how to suck eggs-LBG guys will scoff at 15kg, but acknowlege if that is your top end then have a punt).

Kahawai and Trevally are realistic targets from the Raglan Warf, so if it suits your routine pick up a bag of Mussels from the likes of Countdown, one of the cheapest baits a man can buy in NZ.

Gurnard have been landed their too. So until a local corrects me here - I always imagined if I fished Raglan Warf I would use a flasher rig, one hook shell fish and one hook something oily Pilchard/Bonito/Mullet in that order (Gurnard and Trevally are attracted to Flasher rigs, as are Kahawai, and the two hook system means you can use Mussel for Trevs and something oily on the bottom hook for your Carrots and Kahawai etc.....

Bear in mind my reply is from a non local and theoretical, based off some years fishing the west coast Wharves (Just not where you are). 

If Trevs don't float your boat, forget the shellfish and go Pilchard and maybe a tougher bait like Mullet. 

No problem. Plenty of Jack Mackerel around that Warf, there are vids on youtube of guys catching King fish using live Jack macks on a simple running rig with a decent ball sinker (Current picks up like anywhere on the westcoast) Bait feeder reels if you have one, or if it is just a non bait feeder reel, just set your drag to firm (enough to pull some string with a hard run - Circle hooks ideal in that scenario, enough tension to roll the point into the corner of the mouth).

I dunno what the John Dory chances are like there but they could come into play. Big Kahawai love smaller Jack macks live. 

If you are a mind to travel around Raglan Google map Te Akau Warf (you will see it is a ramp and more of a pile of stones than a Warf, good Kahawai and the occasional Monster Kings here (I have the best sessions there on the incoming tide). Gurnard are around there too.
