Hello there all

I have only been fly fishing for a short while but I'm addicted to tying flys.  I have quite a few nymph tying books and a some with a couple of dry fly pattens but nothing really just on dry flys. So I was just wondering if anyone here knew of any good books on dry flys?  Thanks and all.

I've got both of those, the first is a step-by-step tying for classical dries. The second is a very different one, as Gary was a different fly fisherman ... very interesting.

what part of the country are you in Junkie as I know steven kerr does fly tying classes at rod and reel in new market..have been going along to them..we have tied fresh water flies..nymphs and drys and saltwater flies aswell...really good evening there....cheers

Hello craignzcd

I live in the Waikato. And sadly do not drive ( I know your now thinking how do I get around fishing? Great friends and a really understanding wife. ) I would love to go to a tying class but it would need to be around here.  Thank you tho really appreciate. Just a thought are these classes week days or weekends? Thanks again.

Junkie ... if you cannot attend Steven's classes, who is a great fly tier and equally great fly tying teacher... do not give up ...you still can make it by yourself ...there are a lot of free material in Internet, so you are lucky ... Internet didn't existed when I started on fly tying... That's why I've got lots of books about.. I recommend yo Davie McPhail series ...though for me is a little bit hard to understand his Scottish accent ( .. at the begining I thought, it was because English  is not my native language, but after, I found native English speakers that had some problems in understanding him too Smile)  ...anyway he  is a great flytyer..... check out this https://www.youtube.com/user/DavieMcPhail/videos?flow=grid&view=1

Hello Scapeuce

You don't have to worry about me giving up I love tying ( hence the name ). I only wish I had discovered how much fun this was earlier in my life.  But I'm all in now I have got a few books on tying nymphs and have just ordered a book on dry flys this week very excited about it. I have even tied one of my own design that I tried out and got two nice little browns on.( oh that made me sound a bit big headed ) but on the down side didn't write down how I did it and have forgotten the recipe. I only tied two and have lost both.  I have watched some of Davie McPhail videos very good love them and easy to follow... sort of. Thank you

hi junkie.....the classes we did with steven kerr were on a Thursday evening .....I think clack reid (pole dancer) still does classes and he's over in katikati if I remember right....could ask at a fly fishing shop down your way if they know of any one if not as scapeuce said the net is full of youtube clips and bits....
