I saw Derek the Chef (the dude off Gone Fishing programme on TV) last night. 140 recipes, plenty of good simple ones and a really good looking book.

Let me clarify that pathetic post. The post is about the new cook book -  Graeme Sinclairs second cookbook - which has been mostly compiled by Derek the Chef.

I used to like Crimpy's recipe segment on Gone Fishing. What's Crimpy up to now? I know he's been putting out a couple of books as of late.

I don't think any of our fishing gurus would fit into the category of TV personality.
Nobody has ever come up with a great idea after a second bottle of water.

LMAO @ Squid's post...and the R18 sequel?....

"Squid Rings"

IMHO - Graeme is likeable and friendly to the camera - he is as close as we have to a true blue kiwi fisho "TV personality"....I don't think you will find many that "dislike" his attitude at least!

When I think of TV personality I think of ... Paris Hilton ... Tanya Zaetta ... Jordan ... Mate I don't "dislike" any of our TV fishing dudes, but remember how badly the Greg Norman series showed them up and how poor the overall quality of their shows really are.

I know the networks are largely to blame for this with their penny pinching ways  ...  but our programmes are not really "up there" are they. At best, they are competent. Haven't seen Adam Clancy's new effort yet, so can't comment on the quality, but Adam's a short fat fellah like me and is unlikely to make the sheer physical impact (as in ...jeez he/she is HOT) that a true TV personality does.

Nobody has ever come up with a great idea after a second bottle of water.

Talking of Adam, I notice his name has dissapeared from the list of credits on NZ Fishing World.

Has he gone solo????

Good points Bender and I agree 100%.....

re: Adam's show - I was expecting "big things" from a new show/format/ideas but personally thought it didn't quite get there.....maybe as good as the other two's worst efforts and certainly didn't make a huge impact as far as I was concerned!

Uncle, I did a little search for some info on Adam Clancy on the www... only thing that came up was his opinion on flexiwing kite rigs on Paul's Fishing Kites website.

Mavis seems to have done well with his fishing personality. He's made lively fishing videos anyway.

The Coromandel Safari vids are great. The antics on those vids are so funny... the missed gaff shots and Ants almost loosing his whole rig in the tide when he buggers up that cast.

I met Mavis at the Kingfish Seminar... he sure is a character. I reckon if he had a tv slot it sure would be entertaining.

I love his impersonation of a guy walking around after getting wetsuit rash... classic!

I loved the bit where the guy is going through his fishing kit recommending "must have" tackle and reaches in, pulls out sunglasses and says its important to look cool. Done with such a straight face I was laughing out loud.

I reckon if you could make a fishing programme that captured the information, experience and humour of this site you'd have a winner.
