Hi all,

I would like to make a Koura fly and need a good if not easy to understand pattern for one. Any help would be gratefully received. Embarrassed

Honestly a weighted black or olive woolly bugger will most likely do the business- not that pretty or creative but will probably work aswell as nything

If you're in it for the tie, then StPauls one looks damn nifty. But KJ is right, black or olive woolly buggers retrieved slowly definitely do the job.

The red setter is also fairly effective fished slowly. http://www.nzfishing.com/Lures/FliesAndLures/RedSetter.htm
The Clouser jobby is great for selectively feeding fish in very clear water, used it to great effect on the maitai in Nelson which used to have heaps of Koura.
