IMO if you have mono or fluro off the other end of swivel i would get rid of the swivel and join lines with a double uni.

I use the palomar knot or surgeons knot.

Hiya, I have tied a double in the end of the line using a bimini and just put the swivel through the double. I suspect this isn't bullet proof but ahve caught plently of Bluenose, Jem fish e.t.c. in 300+ m of water and had no failures.

Double the braid and then tie an improved clinch knot, minimum of eight turns.  I've never had one slip or let go in 15 + years (this is using 80lb braid).

...just wondering why you are using a swivel? I assume for your particular style/method, all good.

Uni knot, simple, strong can be tied with wet cold hands on a rocking boat, fast...or whatever knot you can learn to do tie when on the boat.

Lol, I was actually thinking about this on the way back from work, When I'm live baiting for kings i've only ever used mono but want to put braid on my tld25. When i live bait for kings (in deeper water) i'm basically using a running rig.... mainline-swivel-trace with the ball sinker above the swivel, but was thinking last time i tied a swivel to braid it was like the swivel wore through the baid. I just used a uni knot. How do you live bait using  say a six ounce ball sinker with out a swivel? Have the sinker hard on the hook?
I'm what Willis was talking about

i have a little Calcutta 200b that i have braid on for softbaits etc but i like to use other rigs sometimes to  such as flasher rigs so was wondering the proper way to tie them on as Ive had a few knots go of late (uni knots) only using 5 turns maybe need more? I'm off out tomorrow and have just put a flasher rig on by cutting the swivel off and joining the line with a double uni knot like i use when tieing my F carbon to braid for soft plastics may be the better option?

Ah yes - very good, just tie the braid straight to the swivel of flasher rig. Uni knot 6 or seven turns won't let go as it tightens on itself, good luck with the fish!
