Hi,

Looking at a trip to the Kings. I recall June is the best time . Id like to target marlin, kings puka and snapper but mainly marlin as i suspect what is good for 1 species may not be for others.

Anyone know who the very best skippers are. Rick Pollick is one.....

Thanks in advance

Junes getting a bit late in my mind, there are still marlin there then but there arent to many along the coast so the days spent travelling up there and back will probably be dead days(so you're really not getting your moneys worth then).

Striker got his best ever(29 in 2 days) on ANZAC weekend. End of April beginning of May would be a better time and the coast will still have fish.

Plenty of boats but the one(Rick Pollock) you mentioned is good, of course Primetime and Striker but Primetime is $4k a day and Striker is nearly $3k so maybe out of budget? Mark on Reel Passion has been fishing very well and is well priced, he can take a heap of people too which can cut costs a bit.

thanks Adam....I hear what you're saying on time. Ive emailed Rick and will talk to the others. It may be an option that I jump at a charter in the event they are missing 1 or 2 bods. Provided they have a crack at other species as well.

Thumbs%20Up Burwood, 4 of us went up last year on Santana mid April, had a fantastic trip, Gary Higgins, Skipper owner will do what you want to do, some skippers only want to build a tally of marlin and any other fishing is OUT.

We had more than a dozen shots, T & R 2 marlin, kept 1 marlin, bottom fished for puka, kingis, snapper. Deckie was a fantastic cook, ex army man, and he got some crays for us, and got a mahimahi on the way home, 5 days 6 nights on the boat, under 2 grand each , you have the option of taking your own food, one of the best trips Iv'e been on and thats the 6th trip for me to the Kings.

 Cheers
The only bar to frequent is the Kawhia Bar
