Well hope you all had a good one!! Xmas and New Years that is!

It appears the game season is heating up on West Coast! Terry of Redskin got the first West Coast marlin the other day, great effort! Peter Jackson has been letting them go, two in the same day...apparently they didn't reach the self imposed size limit of 199kg. Other 'beakies' have been reportedly dropped! Also there are plenty of 'Albies' around with average weights of around 5kg....so get out there and give Ken (weighmaster) something to do!!!!

At the beginning of January, Kerren Packer and Kurt Briggs got an opportunity to go out on the new charter vessel, Primetime, (58' Salthouse Sovereign, skipper/owner: John Gregory, deckie: Matt Watson and Nick) based out of Whangaroa. To cut a long story short in 3 days they managed to T&R 2 Striped Marlin, landed 2 Shortbilled Spearfish, 13 Mahi-mahi and 10 or so kingies....awesome result!

Preparations are well under way for the Westcoaster Jackpot Tournament to be based at Huia in a marquee opposite the best gantry in the country. The venue offers secure parking, camping, use of the club tractor and we are offering a water-taxi service for those wanting to moor their boats, pick up tickets on the day or come ashore for a few well earned liquid refreshments. More volunteers and/or sponsors are welcome, so contact any of your committee with any information that you think may help!

Next club night is the 12th of February and will be conducted as the Westcoaster Jackpot Tournament brief night...(no, Eddy that doesn't mean you get to wear your undies on your head!), also we will be handing out pins...so be there!

The last message is one of safety, like the TV advert says 'swim between the flags', as one of our members Paul 'I Want To Be Saved' Clapham will attest to. Paul was lying on the beach, dreaming about Pamela 'who Needs Buoyancy Devices?' Anderson of Baywatch, got all hot and bothered so decided to take a dip! He swam between the flags raised his hand! the next thing he knew a strapping young lifeguard of the 'wrong' gender had his 22inch biceps wrapped around Paul's neck, urging him not to struggle! Paul was dragged ashore and given the kiss of life! - the moral of the story is always swim between the fags!!
