The reduction in the West Coast recreational bag limit, from 15 snapper to 10, announced at the end of last year, will now come into force on March 1.
The new limit applies in the area officially known as Snapper 8. It includes all of the West Coast, including the Hokianga, Kaipara, Manukau and Raglan harbours, from North Cape to Tirura Point (just south of Raglan).
New Ministry of Fisheries’ pamphlets, detailing the reduction and other recently-introduced changes to other fisheries’ rules are now available in most sporting goods, fishing equipment and bait stores. Members of the public can also have the pamphlets sent direct to their home or work by phoning 0800 4 RULES (08004 78537).
Information about all recreational fishing rules is also available on line
