Taieri River access closed

Vehicle access to a section of the lower Taieri River has been closed off by a large pile of rocks. Fish and Game Otago is investigating the problem to see if the access crosses public property.

 The area is particularly popular with older or disabled anglers as it is possible to drive up the river directly to the fishing area without the need for extensive walking.

 Closures to access are becoming an increasing problem in Otago ,where recent private land changes are disrupting informal river access agreements.
