Surtees hosting owners' event

For 15 years, Surtees boat owners have banded together to battle it out for the honour of ‘best Surtees angler’. This year’s competition, held in Whakatane, will play host to 300 anglers, all vying for a share of the $60,000 prize pool, including a $10,000 cash prize for the capture of a tagged snapper.

To align the competition with the best practice in sustainable fishing, this year’s competition is entirely measure-based. Anglers will be able to upload a photo of their catch online and choose whether to keep or release it to fight another day. All catches are also automatically entered into the national DB Export Fishing Competition, giving anglers the opportunity to win further prizes, including the Furuno Snapper World Cup.

As always, a spate of supporters are backing this competition – Honda Marine is hosting a BBQ at the Whakatane boat ramp at 6:00 am, alongside the Lusty & Blundell coffee truck.

To register, visit www.surteesboats.com/comps/surtees-fishing-comp-2020. Every entrant will receive a Surtees t-shirt and goodie bag.

All proceeds from the competition will be donated to LegaSea.
