Simrad NSO 4 - Redefining Premium Helm Control

Simrad has introduced the NSO 4 multifunction display (MFD), positioning it as a next-generation command centre for serious fishing applications.

Built around the new NEON operating system, the NSO 4 is designed to deliver a faster and more streamlined user experience, with a simplified interface aimed at reducing workload at the helm. The system is powered by a Qualcomm 8-core processor, enabling rapid boot times, responsive touch control, and smooth operation when running multiple demanding applications simultaneously.

In practical terms, the NSO 4 is designed to handle simultaneous charting, radar, and sonar functions without performance degradation. This is particularly relevant in offshore environments where anglers rely on real-time data from multiple sources to make navigation and fishing decisions. The unit functions as a centralised vessel management hub, integrating with radar systems, sonar modules, trolling motors, and compatible engine data systems. This consolidates core boating functions into a single display interface, reducing the need for multiple separate control units at the helm. Support for advanced sonar technology and C-MAP charts allows anglers to identify structure, bottom composition, and fish targets with greater precision. The system is designed to support layered data views, improving situational awareness in complex offshore conditions.

The NSO 4 is available in large-format configurations up to 24 inches, targeting larger sportfishing vessels where screen visibility and split-screen capability are critical. The larger display format is intended to improve readability at speed and in bright offshore conditions, where smaller units can become difficult to interpret.

According to Simrad, the NSO 4 represents a step change in performance and usability, combining processing power with a redesigned interface to deliver a cohesive helm environment, where navigation and fishing systems operate as a unified platform.
