Raymarine's new e7 Hybrid Touch

Raymarine’s new e7 Hybrid Touch is a revolutionary new multifunction display for the first time, thanks to its built-in Wi-Fi streaming and Bluetooth capabilities, e7 can connect seamlessly with Apple iPhones and iPads (and soon with Android powered devices, too).

This means that an iPhone, iPad or and even an iPod Touch can now not only act as a remote repeater it can also become the sound hub for the boat with all functions (playing and pausing tracks, skipping forwards and backwards in the playlist, volume control) able to be controlled remotely from the e7 display.

“It’s an incredible advance in marine electronics technology,” says Cameron Burch, Raymarine product manager at New Zealand distributor Lusty and Blundell Ltd.

“On a powerboat or yacht, the iPad or iPhone can be left safe and dry in the cabin while all its functions are all controlled at the helm through the e7.

The e7 is also packed full of other innovative and practical features. Thanks to Raymarine’s unique HybridTouch technology, users can switch between applications either by simply touching the screen or by using a rotary control and Raymarine’s new "buttonless" buttons.

Staying in control has never been easier, either. The new e7 is also the first device to feature Raymarine’s exclusive LightHouse User Interface. Specially designed to complement the way boaties think and act, LightHouse makes navigating incredibly easy, intuitively placing frequently used navigation functions right where the skipper expects them to be.

The new e7 is also incredibly powerful, despite its compact size. With three processors (a dual core main processor and a third dedicated graphics processor) the e7 delivers stunning 3D graphics, brilliant video and instantaneous chart redraws.

This makes the e7 the perfect medium on which to view all of Raymarine’s latest technology: HD digital radar and HD digital sonar, and crystal clear video feeds from thermal imaging, docking and underwater cameras.

Another helpful and innovative feature with the e7 is the new steering wheel- or lanyard-mounted remote control. This simple looking but incredibly clever remote allows skippers to access frequently-used functions while underway.

With its smart silver bezel and unique new shape offering maximum screen size in a space-savingly small footprint, the e7 also has the style to complement any dash. Its advanced widescreen display, complete with LED backlighting and high level of water proofing, means it can be placed literally anywhere on board and, thanks to a new advanced coating that virtually eliminates blackout, the screen can also be viewed from any angle, even with polarised lenses.

The ground-breaking new e7 will be on display for the first time in New Zealand at the Auckland International Boat Show in September. It will then be available through Lusty and Blundell’s nationwide network of leading marine dealers.
