PRESS  RELEASE

The NZ Angling & Casting Association Inc announces

the appointment of a Patron

After a great many years without a Patron, the Executive of the NZACA are very please to announce that they have made an appointment of a Patron for the Association.

The very well known NZ Icon and fishing personality, Mr Bill Hohepa, has accepted the position of Patron of the Association; an Association which can be said to represent the greatest majority of recreational fishers in this country – the shore and small boat fishing fraternity. The NZACA is also one of New Zealand’s oldest national fishing organisations.

Bill Hohepa has had a long connection with the NZACA, although not quite such an active part in recent years as in the past. His acceptance of the position of Patron will see him renew his active role as he has indicated that he does not to be seen just as a figurehead but one who plays a very vital role in the workings and promotion of the NZACA and what it strives to do for recreational fishing.

Bill’s earlier involvement is already enshrined in the Association in that the well known, and now design registered and protected, NZACA logo, being a representation of the Maori Fishing Hook encompassing a Map of NZ, came from a concept drawn by Bill back in the late 1970’s.

The Executive looks forward to working with Bill to not only further the aims of the Association but to encourage recreational fishers of this country to join clubs and clubs to be part of an appropriate national organisation. So that with the strength of numbers and together we can make our chosen recreational activity, whether it be for fun or food, even more enjoyable and be secured for the immediate future and for future generations.
