Okuma’s new long-casting spinning reel, Surf 8K, not only retains designs such as rotor brake system, rotor brush guards, quick-set anti-reverse system, but also upgrades all functions and parts. The Surf 8K has a wormshaft transmission system and its super-slow oscillation system winds the line on the spool straighter and tighter, reducing casting friction. The tapered 45mm tall aluminium spool is designed for long-distance casting. The Surf 8K features 5+1 stainless steel bearings, machine-cut brass pinion gear, water-tight drag seal and corrosion-resistant graphite body. The drag can be adjusted from low to full with less than one turn of the drag knob. The gear ratio is 4.7:1, retrieving 108cm of line per handle turn. Maximum drag output is 18kg and spool capacity is 550m of 0.35mm mono.
