NZ Dive Experiences - Tsunami relief project
There are three aid agencies set up to specifically handle diving related post-tsunami aid.
2]Thai-based DOCT [Dive Operators Club of Thailand] [email protected][Alistair Beveridge/Pres. and
3] The OceanNEnvironment[ONE] the charity org of Environment Australia [related to projects in Sri Lanka,Phuket and Maldives]
all distinctive Tsunami Disaster relief fund programs with guaranteed 100% distribution of all funds raised to diving-related aid and re-building the region's dive industry's infrastructure on which the region's economy is largely reliant, and as the major source of employment for tsunami survivors.
Donations from NZL can be made to these organizations with certainty the funds will reach this sector of tsunami victims.
KERMADEC DIVE/UW PHOTOGRAPHY EXPEDITION
NZDE has pledged to dedicate all proceeds from this international expedition to post-tsunami humanitarian aid and in particular,to assist in the re-building of the region's tsunami-devastated dive tourism industry's infrastructure as essential to the recovery of the region's economy, and as the region's primary source of employment opportunities for tsunami survivors.
This internationally unique expedition features renowned,award-winning photographer MICHAEL AW [Publisher of Australasia Scuba Diver magazine and Asian Geographic] as the principal guest lecturer/photo-workshop tutor.
To maximise the extent of the pledge by reducing 'operational overheads' for this 10 day/46 passenger dive/uw photography expedition, NZDE is inviting applications from divers with minimum Divemaster qualifications to volunteer their services as Diver Support Crew in return for the unique opportunity to experience diving the spectacular Kermadec Marine Reserve with all onboard accommodation and meals provided.
Due to some international cancellations by previously booked tour members who have lost immediate family or friends in the Tsunami Disaster,a limited number of places are re-available and to once again maximise the extent of its pledge, NZDE is offering these vacancies to NZL divers/uw photographers at a special 'short notice' fare reduction to just NZ$3500,00 p.p. ex Auckland.
