New Tongan record

At 10.15am on the last day of 2005, Australian Angler Christopher Miley hooked a monster black that was to tip the scales at 328.8kg and take the new Tongan record for Black Marlin on 60kg.

According to Captain Jeff Le Strange, the fish put on an amazing display when it was hooked "right out in front near the old middle FAD position". After a 2hr 15 minute battle the angler and crew of hukula were the victors.

The marlin is the boat's 40th for the season.
