New TDI range from CMD

If you’re buying a boat – or building a boat – and thinking of a diesel engine then you really should have a serious look at the new TDI range, from Mercury’s Cummins MerCruiser Diesel network (CMD).

Being officially released at this year’s New Zealand and Sanctuary Cove Boat Shows, the TDI diesel engines have an unmatched heritage.

Created with Volkswagen’s engineering excellence, TDI engines provide high performance from a compact and lightweight platform.

As part of a new long-term alliance with Volkswagen, CMD is now responsible for the sale and servicing of TDI marine diesels worldwide. The two companies, both leaders in their fields, are now working together to develop industry leading marine engines under five litre capacity to meet Tier 3 emissions standards.

“The TDI engines, which are really great products, nicely round out the CMD offering,” said David Meehan, Mercury Marine’s Director – MerCruiser, Government and Commercial.

The TDI range to be marketed throughout Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific covers three engine platforms.

1.9L 4 cyl in-line – 40 to 75hp, only weighs 200kg, available in inboard or sail-drive configuration

3.0L V6 – 225 to 265hp, high power density and outstanding running quality, 325kgs base engine

4.2 L V8 – twin variable geometry turbo engine based on the Audi Q7 heritage. 350hp and 700Nm, 368kg base engine
