New OBC ops manager appointed

Tim Lidgard has joined Auckland’s Outboard Boating Club as its new operations manager.

Tim grew up in Auckland as part of a family of boating enthusiasts and has enjoyed sailing the waters of the Hauraki Gulf from a very young age. He was formally trained in composite construction and yacht rigging. His love of racing keelboats at an elite level took him offshore. It was in Hawaii where Tim met his wife to be, Allison, and not too long afterward settled in the United States. Tim has more than 20 years’ experience in marine project management, the majority of that in San Francisco, California.

In the San Francisco Bay area, Tim has been instrumental on a variety of marine infrastructure projects that focus on sustainability and preserving the marine environment. With additional experience leading large commercial and military ship repair, Tim has a vast knowledge of vessel structure and systems. Tim and Allison have decided New Zealand is a great place for their daughters, Charlotte (8) and Ondine (6) to grow up hence their recent return.

Tim says Kiwis are truly blessed to have the Hauraki Gulf in our backyard.

“I am very appreciative of the opportunity the OBC and its’ members has given me to help promote safe and sustainable boating recreation on my home waters. Thank you to all the OBC members for supporting the club. I really look forward to meeting you all - I will see you out there” Tim says.
