New Jetski from Yamaha

Yamaha has employed cutting edge nano engineering to produce a new range of lighter, stronger WaveRunner personal Watercraft hulls.

The newly developed material, known as NanoXcel, has been used in the Waverunner hulls, decks and liners, delivering a weight saving of 25% over previous models and increasing strength through the hull for superior performance.

The manufacturing innovation was announced at the Yamaha worldwide dealer conference in Sandestin, Florida. Several of the new 2008 WaveRunner models feature the NanoXcel including the FX HO cruisers and the soon to be released SHO line-up. Using the state-of-the-art, environmentally sound, high compression moulded process produces hulls with greater efficiency and performance.

“This new technology is a real manufacturing achievement for Yamaha,” says Greg Fenwick, Marine Manager for Yamaha Motor NZ.

He says customers will instantly be able to feel the difference provided by NanoXcel.

“This lightweight material, with its remarkably smooth finish, is more nimble and agile in the water than anything we have produced in the past.”

This nano-technological advancement is aimed at meeting the comfort and performance benchmarks expected by new generation PWC operators. Speed and agility is paramount to performance, with Yamaha’s new NanoXcel set to deliver on both accounts.

The exclusive NanoXcel formula developed by Yamaha engineers is the first major development in hull design and construction in the PWC industry in decades. Achieving a 25% reduction in weight whilst improving hull strength and agility is a significant milestone with Yamaha’s manufacturing investment in Nanotechnology set to continue as the market further embraces the NanoXcel Waverunner difference.

The popular Yamaha Super Jet also reveals a newly designed hull for 2008 that increases through-water efficiency and stability while reducing overall weight. The key feature of the new SuperJet hull is a tapered profile delivering a broader beam up front for steering stability which narrows down to a slim rear end for enhanced cornering and speed.

More pronounced ribs on the hull deliver more bite on the water’s surface and dramatically improved cornering performance. The bottom lines of the hull have also been redesigned to increase the length of the waterline for improved dynamic stability in rough water.

The 2008 SuperJet also receives a new re-positioned jet pump and ride plate further aft for greater water intake efficiency and improved pump performance in rough water. Rounding off the list of SuperJet improvements is a striking new colour and graphics upgrade in a fitting Yamaha Racing Blue.

The 2008 range of Yamaha WaveRunners are now available in New Zealand through the extensive Yamaha dealer network.
