New Committee, New Comps

2003 seems to have gotten off to a flying start on the fishing front, Helen Maxwells 15.2 kg Kingfish looks set to rule the leaders board, over the winter at least, and fishing seems to be getting slightly more rewarding lately, with some encouraging reports coming in, and some positive results from our comp weigh-ins. The Snapper prizemoney jackpotted for 5 comps over the winter, much to Darrin Maxwells delight, as he took home a princely sum for his efforts,( you'll have to ask him how much) in winning the fishing comp of March 8th & 9th, 2003, with a 1.225 kg specimen. The lovely ladies of our club have already made their impact felt also, when, (for a short while at least), they held ALL the places on the leaders board.

We have also resurrected the old Whatipu Trophy. As the club no-longer frequents the lodge, the committee has made this sheild, along with a trophy for the winner, available to ALL land-based fish. Last year, as far as we know, No land-based fish were weighed in. So ANY fish could be a contender for this trophy. If you catch a fish off the shore or rocks, of any species, ( 750 gm minimum) weigh it in, you just might get rewarded for it at the A.G.M.

The club is now trying to take an active role in N.Z.s recreational fishing comunity and club members will, (for a while at least), be notified of these events as they occur, mainly through newsletters mailed directly to them, but keep an eye on the boards down at the club as well.

Good Fishing, and keep an eye on this site for regular updates.

                                                            The Committee.
