New Combo light available

The unique dual-headed Colorlight range of halogen (white light), UV (black light) and combination halogen/UV searchlights is now available in New Zealand through specialist marine electronics’ company, Electrics Afloat Ltd.

Able to illuminate objects up to 4000 metres! away, the extraordinarily powerful Colorlight white light range is complemented by black light UV searchlights that can pick up fluorescent objects, buoys and beacons and even oil spills at distances up to 1400 metres!

Dual mounted, Colorlight marine searchlights are available in either twin halogen, twin UV or, the most popular, a halogen combined with a UV light.

Thanks to Colorlight’s unique unlimited movement mounting system, the two searchlights can be remotely controlled to move in any direction and both horizontally and vertically at the same time.

This makes them ideal for use by search and rescue organisations, harbour pilots, Coastguard, commercial ferries and even superyachts. In times of normal darkness and clear visibility, the powerful halogen white light will make it far easier and quicker to identify objects in the water and therefore not only cuts down on search and rescue times but also greater improves the chances of survival for those in trouble.

When visibility is impeded due to fog, heavy rain, sea mist or even snow, the invisible UV light will quickly pick up otherwise-hard-to-see fluorescent objects and return visible beams of light back to those on board the search vessel.

Colorlight is also ideal for locating oil, petrol or diesel spills at night as the hydrocarbons in these fuels appear fluorescent in UV light. Helicopter landings at sea in dark, difficult conditions can also be made far easier and safer by simply using a fluorescent coating on the H symbol and surrounding circle and using the Colorlight UV light to make these clearly visible in all conditions.

The stainless steel ColorLight range, which won the prestigious Seatrade Awards for excellence in the category Safety at Sea in 2003, is available in a range of sizes and finishes including bare stainless and white and can be customised in complement the colour of the vessel.
