The Maritime Safety
Authority is once again holding its popular regional seminars at ports around
the country. This is your opportunity to find out what the MSA is doing,
how any changes will affect you and most importantly, have your say on some of
the key issues. Seminars will be held in
Wellington, Napier, Auckland and Tauranga in November and December this
year. A further round is scheduled for Nelson, Christchurch, Westport,
Greymouth and Invercargill in February and March 2002. These free seminars are
open to anyone involved in the maritime industry, including ship operators,
seafarers, maritime organisations, local authorities and other providers of
maritime safety and environmental services. Running from 10.30 to 12.30,
the morning session will provide for discussion on the MSA’s current and future
work programme, including developments in maritime rules. The afternoon session
will be workshop based and will give you the opportunity to take part in
discussion on specific topics. Three one hour workshops covering different
topics will run concurrently between 1 and 2 pm, and will be repeated between 2
and 3 pm. This means you can attend two workshop discussion groups in the
afternoon. Groups will then report back
in the final wrap-up session, where you will also be able to raise any other
issues not covered during the day. To help decide what topics
will be covered in the workshops, please list your preferred topics, (1,2 and 3
