Massive Tuna Wrestled From Surf

Aaron Cossill is a keen hunter but when he was riding along Ripiro beach near Dargaville on the weekend with his son, he took on one of his biggest challenges yet.

A massive 80kg tuna had been caught in the surf and was thrashing around trying to get out of the wash. Initially he tried pulling it back on shore but it was too lively so a quick trip back to the buggy for his hunting knife was in order and the tuna was duly dispatched.

Aaron is an experienced pig hunter and he said the tuna 'kicked the hell out of him" but he hung on and now has some great food for friends and family.
