Legacy Long Range Gamefisher Making Progress

Extreme Boat’s ‘big boat’ division, Legacy Marine, is well into the fit-out stage of its L70 model, which is being built on site at Whakatane.

The L70 is a 24.0-metre-long range gamefisher built specifically to fish international waters.

She is powered by twin Mann 412 1900 diesels which will give her a projected ‘sprint’ speed of 34 knots – not bad for a vessel that weighs 50 tonnes ‘dry’.

Fuel capacity is 9000 litres, and she carries 1000 litres of water, backed up by a water maker.

Accommodation is in four cabins capable of sleeping eight people. The engines and shafts are in place, as are the topsides. The forward accommodation, manufactured in Auckland in modules, is currently being installed. She will have all the comforts of home, including extensive refrigeration and a full laundry – everything to make long-distance travel as pleasant as possible.

The L70 is the first of the Legacy Marine vessels in build. There are plans for a L52 and a L45, renderings of which were released to the public at the May Hutchwilco NZ Boat Show.
