June Newsletter

AWARDS EVENING: 28th July 2001  5.30pm

$25ph which includes a three course meal, wine with your meal, and a band for the evening.

All members should have their invitations by now.  Remember we need RSVP back by 30 June so we know how many to cater for. This is something we hope to do each year if we have enough interest in this one. This is an evening for all members to get together whether you are receiving a trophy or pin. To enjoy yourselves, be served on, and to listen to a band.  We have hired a marquee for the evening so there will be heaps of room. Our sub committee organising this are Andrew & Judith Grootjans, Brent & Margaret Smith, John & Carol Grice and Lyndsay Brown.  These people are doing alot in their own time to make this a very memorable evening so we hope that you will come and join them.  They will also require some help on the Saturday to organise things so please let them know if you have time as it will be appreciated.

Top Boat finishes 30 June2001.  This is a challenge undertaken by club boaties to decide the top boat of the year.  Points are given to a variety of fish listed. Each fish weighed in over a designated weight earns basic points and then extra points are given on top of this, according to weight.  The species of fish to obtain these points will be given out to entrants at start of season.  It costs the skipper $20 to enter his boat, any crew who are fishing on his boat and weighs fish in he gets the points for. John Grice- Magnum Berley Supplies sponsors $250.00 each year towards this challenge and this is topped up by entry money. The next top boat will commence on Sunday 1st July. The entry must be paid before this date.

GPS Afternoon. A huge thank you to Dave Adamson from Optel - Adamson & Holland for coming out and showing our members who were interested on how to use their GPS.  It was a great afternoon and it seem that everyone gained some valuable information.   If anyone has any ideas of what they might like to learn about please let us know as the winter months are a good time to have it.

Burgees: We are very lucky as we have Graham Harris (Patron) who on his trips finds differnet Burgees for our club.  You may have seen these hanging from the beams.  On his recent trip to England he came back with another three for us.  They are The Royal Fowey Yacht Club of which the Patron is the Ducke of Edinburgh.  The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club situated in St Aubin and The Shark Angling Club of Great Britain.
