Fishing Dangerous

Water Safety New Zealand executive Alan Muir believes people under estimate the danger of fishing in our waters.

 This years drowning figures support his argument last month alone 6 of the 14 people who drowned throughout the country were involved in recreational fishing. That brings that total number of fishing drownings to 38 for the year, or 44% of the total number of drownings.

 Mr Muir said people should always understand the risks associated with fishing in New Zealand waters.
