Firstly, a big congratulations to our most recent monthly draw winner Gayle Wedderburn. Registering in July this year, newcomer Gayle has been slogging it out with multiple kahawai entries, all of which have been caught exclusively on the Manukau Harbour. A true conservationist, Gayle has released the majority of her catches to fight another day, with the others being taken home for tea.
Gayle’s most recent kahawai entry – caught on September 22 and measuring in at 46.5cm – has earned her a $750 Shimano surfcasting combo!
Shimano Big Baitrunner XTB surf reel with a 13 foot Carbolite rod and Suffix mono, valued at $750.
With Hagane Cold Forged gears, a long casting spool and Shimano’s iconic baitrunner system, the Big Baitrunner is made for the challenges of surfcasting in NZ. Paired with the 13 foot Carbolite rod sporting a Fuji reel seat and Fuji SIC guides, this set up is designed to last the test of time for any keen land-based angler.
October prize: $1,000 of Shimano gear. This includes a Talica 8 Reel, Carbolite SW 7' 6-10KG rod and more. Good luck to those submitting fish across October!
