For those who remember boating in the middle to latter part of last century, the Classic Boats & Outboards display will be a real trip down memory lane.
Featuring an amazing collection of outboards dating right back to the 1920s, as well as fascinating boats, including the home-built Polaris, the display will offer a nostalgic journey not to be missed.
The rare classic outboards on display include: a 1922 Elto Ruddertwin, a 1924 2hp Johnson, a 1947 2hp Evinrude Sportsman, a 1947 3.5hp Scott Atwater, a 1957 3hp Evinrude Elto and a 1962 2.5hp Anzani Pilot.
Monte Jones and two mates built the Richard Hartley Starflite, Polaris, in 1958, when they were still at school. The cabin, to their own design, was added in 1960 and the boat went on to win the runner-up prize for the best amateur-built boat at the 1963 Auckland Boat Show (the forerunner to the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show).
