Adjustable steering system from Lusty and Blundell

Ultraflex’s new breakthrough Master Drive adjustable steering system gives skippers the best possible control in all conditions.

Accurately described as one of the most significant advancements in outboard power steering, the unique Master Drive system actually allows the skipper to adjust their steering system to match the way the boat is being operated.

Grant Matthew, Ultraflex product manager at New Zealand distributor Lusty and Blundell Ltd says: “Experienced powerboat operators know that, in an ideal world, skippers would have different levels of steering sensitivity when they were trolling, cruising or running flat out.

“Master Drive now makes that ideal world a reality.”

With Master Drive, skippers simply use Ultralflex’s innovative dash mounted keypad to change between the various performance modes.

“There is no need to bring the boat to a complete stop or put the engine in neutral,” says Matthew. “The skipper simply chooses the best mode for the type of boating they are doing at the time.”

Best suited to larger outboard installations (250-350hp) or multi rig applications, the versatile Master Drive system can cope with all types of sea conditions, be used with dual helm stations and operate in conjunction with an autopilot.

Using an ultra quiet 12v power steer pump, Master Drive draws minimal current and comes with an IP67 waterproof rating. It is also ignition protected, can be mounted vertically or horizontally and will safely revert to a fully functional manual system if there is a loss of power.

“Master Drive gives skippers a whole new level of control,” says Matthew. “By allowing them to control the level of feedback at the helm, they can have the ultimate power steering system regardless of whether they are undertaking slow speed tight quarter manoeuvres or blasting along at high speeds in a straight line.

“This makes the Master Drive the ideal system for outboard powered Coastguard boats, fishing vessels and for owners of recreational craft that demand the very best.”

Ultraflex Master Drive is now available nationwide through Lusty and Blundell’s network of leading marine dealers.
