Verado L6 count reaches 75,000

During its 75th Anniversary, Mercury has produced its 75,000th Verado L6 outboard engine.

Launched in 2004, the Verado six-cylinder was available in models ranging from 200 to 275hp, but its global popularity has seen the Verado family extended to now cover from 175hp to 300hp while Mercury Racing offers the 350hp Verado SCi.

“It’s an incredible milestone to reach 75,000 Verado engines in our 75th year,” Mercury Marine President John Pfeifer said.

The world's first supercharged production outboard engine, the Verado was designed from the floor up to deliver amazing performance and reliability combined with a car-like driving experience. And it hit every mark.

Mercury has manufactured more than 15 million engines since the company was founded in 1939.

Mercury MerCruiser 4.5 litre wins big at IBEX

Mercury’s new 4.5L, 250hp sterndrive engine has been named the top innovative product in its category at the International Boat Builders’ Exhibition and Conference in Tampa, Florida.

“This new engine is a great power source that provides features, benefits and technology that make boating more enjoyable and worry-free. This engine … delivers Mercury’s proven performance, durability and ease of service,” said Pfeifer.

Designed and purpose-built by Mercury for marine use, the MerCruiser 4.5L establishes new standards for acceleration and overall performance, thanks to innovations such as a long runner scrolled intake manifold and high displacement, which produces an outstanding power-to-weight ratio.

This V6 engine weighs 59 kilograms less than a 5.0L V-8 small block, yet provides similar performance.

The 4.5L V-6 also offers Adaptive Speed Control (ASC), which automatically maintains the set rpm point regardless of load or condition changes, such as tight turns, tow sports and lower speeds on plane. The result is increased throttle response and a “sportier” feel for the driver, who no longer has to make continual throttle-control adjustments.

    
Mercury engines nab Customer Satisfaction Index Awards

 
 Mercury Marine has also received 2014 Marine Industry Customer Satisfaction Index Awards in each of the three propulsion categories: outboard, sterndrive and inboard engines.    

Mercury was the only marine engine company to receive more than one CSI award.
