Ian, your Taupo Fishing Guide, started fly fishing when he was about 9 years old (1964) with his grand father in the South Island of New Zealand. There he learned the skills required to catch some of those very elusive large Southern Browns. He moved to the North Island to gain a Diploma in Emergency Ambulance care and worked for nine years as an Ambulance Paramedic.
In 1983 “Absolutely Angling“ (formally Wilderness Adventures) was born and eventually Ian moved to continue the business based out of Taupo where they can now offer outstanding packages for all types of Taupo Flyfishing adventures.
Having fished and explored the North Island for some 30 years, Ian has an intimate knowledge of most of the Central North Island rivers and many on the East Coast of the North Island.
Ian has been guiding and instructing people in the outdoors for over 13 years and is now one of New Zealands most skilled and qualified Guides.
