I picked the little Surtees up from the factory at Whakatane on Friday. The end result is better than I was hoping for and the boat just looks right!


The centre console is not too wide to leave enough space to move around and the windscreen folds down for trailering and garaging


The cockpit is huge for a boat of this size. Fuel is underfloor, battery in the cc and the area where the battery normally go is now a lockable compartment - neat!




The area in front of the centre console easily accommodates one soft bait casting fisho.


I took it for a little shakedown this afternoon from Takapuna and she handled the slop extremely well.

As a matter of interest, does it have the flooding ballast chamber in the keel?

Thanks for the kind words! Launching and retrieving is a piece of cake for 1 person. The complete rig on the trailer with the 60hp four stroke apparently weighs less than 650kg. Yes, Keith, it has a flooding ballast in the keel with a shut off flap to lock the ballast in for added weight when you steam in rough water.

Hi Spearsniper, the hull was $10,000 including the cc and underfloor fuel tank and water separator. To relocate the battery to the cc was $200. The trailer was $3,000. The complete boat with WOF, Rego, 60hp four stroke Yammie, hydraulic steering, painted and Nyalic for the rest (as you see in the 'photo's) was $28,785.

Stability is excellent. You don't have to pull yourself over the side - it comes with a boarding ladder. You are welcome to PM me and you can come for a ride after a fishing trip.

So far the boat has exceeded all my expectations. I took it for a ride on the Manukau today to put some hours on the motor as part of the break-in time. It was fairly rough and it was no problem sitting at 4200rpm doing 40km/h. The ride is amazingly soft. Many people talk about the cc being wet but it did not seem to be a problem. No wetter than most other boats I have owned.

I thought I might as well put down a dredge and the scollies were in excellent condition! The dear one is cooking them while I am typing this! I tried to upload some 'photos but for some reason was denied access!, and cheers Tobez, your advice worked!

its come up nice seadoc,they do a good job down at surtees,how much under floor fuel do you have.

Hi Mike, it holds 40 liters. That should be enough for 200km cruising at 4000rpm !!

looks pretty cool - a 'big' little rig.

i like your electronics - exactly the choice i would have made too.
