Over ther last few days Matt and the boys have been here in Tauranga filming for the ITM fishing show on targeting Kingfish on top water lures. With a massive high over the country and flat sea's we where off to a good start.
Tools of the trade locked, loaded and ready to roll
And Jake getting the boat ready to go we where out there at a rate of knots, the fishing over the last few days being consistent we where seeing fish on the lures and would shy away at the last moment but with two very distinct bites both days we had pack attacks of fish where five to eigth fish of 20 plus kgs would follow the lure to the back of the boat and frothing, the boys would get lures to them and have double, triple hook ups with the fish only meters away from the boat it was insane and the splashes where like someone had dropped a bag of cement out of the sky into the water.
Richard was the star anlger with none of the fish he landed being under 20kg
and this fish estimated around 28kg taken on a light pe 5 set up and hooked only a few meters for the boat there where a few tense moments, I even had time to get away from the wheel and snag one
with it all on film this will be a show not to miss and if you want to have a shot at targeting the bad boys give me a bell and we'll get it sorted

Man how time fly's, this weekend on the ITM Fishing Show will be of when Matt and the team come to Tauranga to have a go at targeting Kingfish on top water lures, with good weather and plenty of action it will make for good viewing so be sure to check it out on saturday 7pm TV3 plus with the top water season looming in a few months could be time to dust off the gear and think about coming to Tauranga in getting involved in the best way to catch Kingfish.

hope you enjoy the show.

wow nomad you guys were cleaning it. I know it isn't a competition but not often you can say a boat clearly easily clean up and did so much better than Matt Watson. Looks like you know how to put people onto the fish, however I know Richard is really experienced at fishing. I was just blown away

that was excellent footage guys, shame about the other boat...

just a shame you didn't get more air time considering you guys where doing it....
some great footage from underwater as well...
hope you get some mileage out of it, you sure have that place nailed...
you find the Kings come to the surface when the tide is slack top and bottom of the tide more than during the heat of the flow????

Thanks for everything you did for us Eric. may you rest in peace, You were one of the real legends of NZ recreational fishing
