Selecting Softbaits for NZ Fishing

Softbaits took over much of my fishing life around 20-odd years ago, yet I’m still evolving and discovering new aspects now. Or maybe I’m just a slow learner. Be that as it may, there is a lot to fishing softbaits consistently well, especially when fishing in very different situations and conditions. Fortunately, we have very comprehensive ranges of softbaits and jigheads in all sorts of shapes, weights, qualities, and colours, so anglers can take advantage of virtually every scenario encountered, provided there’s a basic understanding of what’s required and what products can provide the best solution. In short, we need to pick a likely softbait tail and connect it to a suitable jighead; these two components are equally important to achieving the best possible softbaiting.
