How to Save Fuel When Fishing

It’s become a crazy world. Even with the benefits of being isolated at the bottom of the Pacific region (we used to think it was a disadvantage), as well insulated as a country can be from power-crazed madmen and having no aggressive neighbours just over the border, we are still suffering the effects from the fallout of the actions of those in the Northern Hemisphere.

It is just another iteration of the catch-22 paradox that, at the very time when ever-worsening cost-of-living pressures make it increasingly important for Kiwis to be able to harvest their own food to help feed the family (in our case by putting fish on the table), Orange Man’s Middle Eastern war has hugely increased pain at the petrol pump. At the time of writing, a tenuous ceasefire had been signed, but in typical fashion all parties were still shooting at each other. Who knows what will have happened to fuel prices by the time you read this.
