West Otago is a tucked-away rural area that, in outdoors terms, punches well above its weight. This is especially true when it comes to pursuits such as fishing, hunting, and duck shooting.
The dominant backdrop vista is the heavily forested Blue Mountains, commonly called the ‘Blueys’, which rise to a height of 1,019 metres. This oblong-shaped, north-to-south range forms a solid barrier between West Otago and South Otago.
