It called a Blue Rose and its Shimano's top line Jig rod. I have fished them and are not overly impressed, just a rod and heavy due to glass content in blank. Saw OH version break but I feel the blank may have been creased before a big fish creased it permanent.
There are a couple of different types latest.

Japan Domestic Model (2008 New)

Called a Blue Rose Inbreed & Full Gene

Hi Boulder, Can i ask - Which model smith rod and whats the reel to match it????

Cheers

Cant remember TPEmbarrassed but it was the lighter model with the slow spiral that started out going right then went into a slow left hand wrap with only the last 2 eyes in the full upside down position.
Quite a soft rod and I would have thought roughly equal to a JM 200 but it was rated to throw a 280gm jig.
As to the reel I spied a Diawa z30 with my little eye and I understand that tackle shop is getting 3 in. Be rude not to eahThumbs%20Up

The Z30 would be an absolutely perfect match for that Smith AMJ-52M rod Boulder.

certainly one of the greatest about turns in the Authorised History of Tackle Hoedum yet......

It wasn't till he realised that by accepting spirals as a bone fide piece of fishing equipment and that would then allow him to bolster the number of rods/reels/line/lures/bags/tackle websites etc he owns by at least 100% that all became right (or is it left?)  in the world of Boulder regards spirals.....Thumbs%20Up....certainly was pretty to watch from the outside looking in!!

It was almost akin to a goat botherer denouncing God then becoming a member of the clergy in the same sentence was the speed at which the transformation took place.....brilliant!!

But ask your self why many of the top Jap jig rods are left hand spiralErmm Then wait till you see the twisted sister whose birth is but 2 weeks away.
Then if I decide I still like you I may/repeat MAY let you have a turn with it so you can equally proclaim your transformation to the clergy of the left.

Nice lookin piece of kit...................but you can get JM rods which are every bit as good and some. The JM stack up against anything I have looked at and valve for money, pretty hard to match. I looked at getting one just cause I like to have something a bit different from others, but when I do get the hand braked tension released a little I will be purchasing a JM not the Blue Rose.

Had a 'feel' with the 420g rod today and almost fell in Heart after reading this thread Broken%20Heart If I'm spending this kind of money on a rod what should I be looking at.

Partnered with OJ5000P and YGK PE8.

I've got a Ocea Blue Rose - Full Gene 420 and like it lots.....awesome to jig with.... ....plenty of herbs in all the right places and jigs 200 - 500gram jigs with ease.....versatile!

Scotty - are you getting confused? thought the "inbreeds" were the older models less suited to typical "kiwi"/"asian" mechanical jigging styles and the "Full Gene" was the new series lighter in action?....could be confused myself actually....all I know is the model I have is a sweet unit....the newbies we had on our Kings trip all got to have a play and seemed to enjoy using it as well.....

EDIT:

Since Blue Rose was first born 5 years ago, it had set the standards of how Jigging should be & won many accolades from anglers with many notable catches. Since then, jigging styles have also changed dramatically.
The new Blue Rose range of Jigging rods are specifically designed to suit different Jigging styles to bring this sport to the next level. Built with extra tough X Composite blanks featuring a new Carbon/Glass layering technique that resulted in a tougher, responsive & lighter rod. As jigging style is grueling, this rod is also designed to be well balanced so as to minimize fatigue to the angler and at the same time exert strong lifting power. Choose from 2 different action models to suit your style;

INBREED rods are designed for deep water jigging using heavy jigs. Blanks used for this range of rods are of extra heavy duty to withstand this style of fishing.

FULL GENE rods are designed for medium to light jigging styles. Blanks used a for this range are sensitive & responsive.

Sweeeeeetttttt yeh the rod felt bloody good in the shop, plenty of flex and really did feel like a heap of the weight (john) taken off the angler (me).

Went through most of the range there and this one stuck out. The synit (model?) was nice also.

By all acounts it looked very nice! Stella will be able to tell you more, but it was tested on a very large fish-I think he thought it was quite forgiving on the angler, and also comfortable to jig with.
I am an overhead man,but I would say it got the thumbs up.

Was awesome the little beast got bent in half on a good chunk of HEAD, was not to sure how it would go ,but was able to put some serious hurt on a good fish without putting hurt on the angler ,was a pleasure to jig with ,the section that would go under your arm-pit has no bling or EVA but just 6 or so inches of blank which tucks up nicely into your arm-pit.Think ill keep it until my Narai come's back.

I fished the Shimano Blue Rose with PE8 on a drag upgraded OJ4000 & also fished a Synit Grey Ghost 333 with PE5 on OJ 4000 at the Ranfurly banks. My preference of the two was the Synit.
At the end of the day they both caught fish.
