Just in from solo to Noises area,gee its nice out there! Started fishing around 3.30, fairly slow compared to the channels recently, took about 10 minutes to get first snap.,44 cm,, drifted around Noises in about 25 ms ,hooking up every 10 minutes or so ,and drifted nicely in beautiful conditions to the Haystack ,with fish all the way Sapphire shines,lime tigers, and pink shines were all deadly, tried other SBs but got b.all! .There seemed to be a lot of fish around birds travelling past in big numbers, but i could not see where they were going to I saw some guys hooked up to what looked like a good king in close to rocks(on livies),but i saw no other sign of them.Total landed was about 25 ,lost 3 after good battles, hook just fell out and only 3 were under 30 cm,,, there was no big ones , and i only took 3 home, from44 cm to 54cm.WE are out tomorrow avo really want to catch BIG snap, on softbait!! Sorry no photos, forgot camera, but Tightlines2 is coming tomorrow and he is a phototaking legend!!

Cheers guys, the fishing and weather is fantastic at the moment ,we go out every chance we get!..It wont last forever,and when weather breaks these days will be but a memory

Hi Smudge ,I was in red 459 Stabi, kept fair distance from other boat there (You guys),I think you were drifting slowly, just came in from trip to Crusoe /Waiheke, more of a battle tonight ,Tightlines2 will write something tomorrow, im to tired tonight, anyway TL2 is far more aloq......eloqi,,,,,,,,brainier than me

Tennut, while I was cleaning fish you were on the computer!, then you set me up to write about one of our worst trips of recent times. Here are the details briefly. Got to Curusoe at 5.45pm with a fair bit of wind against the tide. Caught 1 nice fish and Tennut said "we'll do better than that " so back it went. Then I hooked a nice fish and while playing it Tennut caught a beauty. My fish "dropped", and Tennut had his near the boat when he said there is shark chasing it. The shark wasn't chasing it, IT was the shark, about 6 foot. The shark saw the boat and took OFF. The okuma rod and SA40 reel got a massive workout as we chased the shark with the boat for about 7 minutes before the jighead hook staightened and pulled out, but the reel performed fantastically. The conditions weren't getting any better so we shifted down to the shelterd side of Waiheke. Although we stayed out till 8.40pm we only brought home 6 fish from 33cm to 44cm with lots of smaller ones, some illegal size returned to the water. We were hoping for the wind to drop for the trip home and it did, just as we were putting the boat on the trailer!! A hard day for us, what worked for Tennut the night before didn't even get touched. Still a feed of fresh fish and plans being made for the next chance to get out, even if it is still a week away .------------- Remember it's not the number of breaths you take that is important in life, but rather the number of times that life takes your breath away. |

TL2, not only was i on computer but i had a nice hot cup of tea!! Thought you were busy impressing in laws with hard work tiding garage,we could /should have ducked out for early fish ,you forgot to tell whole world who caught biggest fish (obviously an oversite!).Modesty prevents me from doing so,,,i wish someone would ask!.

Oh,thanks for asking Olfart ,not that it matters or means anything but it so happens ...... No look TL2 is my good friend and im not gonna get him all upset or feeling inadequit? just because he gets the odd smaller fish on flash tackle |

If I replied to that it would be the biggest bite you got all day. The biggest boated fish (by 1cm) was yours but I'm pretty sure that the one which the deckie couldn't net for me before it threw the hook was looking good for number 1. I was just gently teasing the both of ya!
Got a cuppla good bites, too, even tho' I'm not on the water today!...(Good Friday an all...)
Hope to get out tomorrow if the missus co-operates...
Got a new Shimano Catana rod with a Shimano Sienna 4000FB reel to try out - not the most expensive stuff, but good enough I hope.....

Might have to be a solo run, though ( a first for me ) as 'er in doors' has just told me she doesn't want to go out on the boat at all any more...
