Grand daughter caught her first kingi, and on a jig.
Took boyfriend and her for a fish. He got his first on a jig too. 4 drops and 3 kingis. Kept 1.
Boyfriend had been helping me re roof the beach house - so he got to come fishing.
Got some snapper and gurnard too, and crays

Nice work. 75% strike rate kingi jigging is a very hot bite.

I have a kingi spot that works very reliably. I hardly fish it. Maybe once a year. It is only about 6 k from home. But I am just as happy chasing other fish, and don't want to pressure the spot. I will take people there when there is a good reason. Otherwise I leave it alone.
So, you usually don't have to wait long for a hit.

Snapper, gurnard, kingies and crays. Sounds pretty good to me Alan and even better when you're doing it with family. Thumbs Up

Lil's boyfriend is a real nice guy and was happy to help on the roof. He is also a super keen fisho. So it seemed like a good plan to take him to the kingi spot. And we did well on the other fish after. Approx 8 snapper and 8 gurnard.  Best fishing day ever according to him. First experience beach launching too. Never dull.
He has recently talked his dad in to going halves in a boat same as mine - they got it a month or so ago.
So it was a very nice day to have them both on the water, and catching fish. We only fished for about 2 1/2 hrs, enough fish, home.
One bloke stayed out for 6+ hrs and got 1 snapper , 1 gurnard and 1 spiny..
He was obviously on the wrong boat.
I am super pleased how grand  daughter has taken to fishing. She has known nothing other than a grand dad that fishes. Since she was a toddler she was with us camping at a trout river, or at the beach etc. So it is very normal for her. She is getting better, and fishes with the boyfriend a fair bit. He had his own small boat before the 'new' fyran.
They are coming over to Vanuatu in a few months to have a crack at gamefishing.

Yes Geoff, Cray for the last couple of nights. They don't keep as well as fish fillets.
Snapper and gurnard for the next couple of nights. Good to have some fresh seafood. Boat hasn't been in for the last month or so - bit busy and sea not been very helpful.

Can't complain Martin.
Last of the fish fillets tonight.
There is something about catching them yourself. I just can't bring myself to buy fish.
Would rather go without.
