Very cool, what area was this Pete?

Nice seen a few of its cousins Black Spotted Gropers during a few dives in Northland so thought maybe you were at the Poor Knights Islands.

I know you knew that. Are they any calmer around divers though than hapuku or bass? Once they get big enough, they are not really frightened of anything are they? All they wanna know about strange new things like divers is if they can either eat it or breed with it.
Interestingly, the snorkelers in the sollies, the locals out spearfishing the reefs etc, are way more worried about the big groupers than sharks. If a snorkeler goes missing, as happens every once in a while, they automatically put it down to a big grouper getting them, not sharks or anything else. They don't like them eh!
