It really is. Only 1% more than savings account. As my boss said use their money at that rate. Less than a grand in interest over the whole 3yr haha

A grand over 3 years is a lot of fishing money. No point having savings when you have a loan.

Never heard anything bad about Suzukis. Would take the Suzuki deal in a heartbeat.

i did 1200 or so hours on my detuned suzuki 140s (a 90 and a 115) and was very pleased with their reliability and efficiency. if I was to buy new again I'd be going with suzuki again in a heartbeat. Honda would also be on my list to compare prices with. cheers

So I have opted for the Suzuki 140.

Better communication, better deal just a better overall experience dealing with Warren Hay Marine, especially dealing with Warren himself.

Have heard nothing from Yamaha dealer for 2 weeks, asked them to go down and check over engine for trade price. Also to email finance details - nothing. not impressed but, after talking to a few people they're not surprised. oh well.

Boat has been painted, transom had some serious corrosion under outboard bracket(got repaired), windscreen was starting to go on.

Good call, you will not be disappointed and yup no surprise on your experience with Yammy.
A number of the Yamaha middle managers at boat shows demonstrate a real arrogance about them - maybe 10 years ago when there was less competition this behavior was 'ok' but now we have stronger options in the market.

That is the attitude shown by yamaha that made me, until then a keen Yamaha guy, buy all my new motors in 2014 from suzuki, who were a pleasure and very easy to deal with. Only small beer to Yamaha, but let's see, a 250, 5x 90s, 4 x 60, a 20 and a 2.5 all off suzuki.
Not, I am sure, that the akld Yamaha corporate boys give a stuff.
It is only my overwhelming natural humility that mars my perfection.

Have certainly noticed more dukes around these days , bet yammies market share in n.z has taken a hammering .
Maybe the importer is operating out of Ozzi or the states and just doesn't care ?.

My father went through a similar process. In dec 2013 we wanted a 100hp yammy 4 stroke. Went to the same dealer as you. Got quoted $18885. Told couldnt have it on till after christmas. One phone call to Active Outboards. And the 90hp suzuki for $15500 was a no brainer. Not to mention they put a loan motor on so we were on the water for christmas.

End of 2015 got a new 12.5ft tinny. Same process. Ended up getting the 25hp 4 stroke suzuki from warren.

You wont be dissapointed with the suzuki extremely happy with them and the service you get at warren hay

Got the boat back on Friday, and took it out yesterday. I can say that I am absolutely pleased the Suzuki 140, so quiet, hasn't changed the way the boat sits in the water. Why didn't I go four stroke sooner I kept asking myself.

So did 85km (from tutukaka to north then out to taiharuru reef and back to tutukaka) and used 38L. Trolling speed uses 4.7-5.3L/hr and cruising at 4k rpm uses about 13L/hr. Averages 2.3km/L

It's almost 1/3 of what the yam 115 used in that distance and what with most of it sitting at 4k rpm.
WOT reaches 63km/hr

Very happy

Well  the zuki seems the deal but , 600hrs aint a whole big lot  on the old ( proven ) motor . Your still lookin at 18k  plus any interest to buy new . 18k gets you at least 6000 litres of fuel which @ 20l/hr is 300 hrs motoring, figure in that the new donk will use say 10l/hr anyway and you have 600 hrs the difference . How long would it take you to do 600hrs ( and dont say 600 hrs either Tongue)I mean how many years would it take to tick up 600hrs in the boat .
I wish I was young again .... Id be heaps smarter than this time

For me, the decision to repower was really due to the current motor (2013 115 etec, gen 1) starting to rack up the service bills and becoming unreliable with warning alarms going off during most trips. The latest being the flywheel magnets coming loose which a quick google search seems to be a common and expensive fault. I no longer have the confidence in it to go out wide, so boating (especially taking the kids out) loses its gloss pretty quick. 
Have made the call to go for the Suzuki DF140BGT, hopefully can post some positive reviews on it after the summer!

I have a 2019 DF140 with about 180hrs and it has been faultless. It is on a Seaforce 530 and economy is great at about 650ml/nm.
Oh what a smasher - two eggs and a rasher!
