Not sure but have been pondering similar. Had a Mahi on saturday with similar in it but pretty fresh condition. Initially thought juvy blue nose but now thinking juvenile ocean blue eye?

also had the below. baby frosty maybe?

the flotsam seemed to be holding very small juvy kings mainly

Top ones reckon are juvenile blue nose. We had quite big one (same fish) 20cm plus one  in the bull Mahi we caught and cut up yesterday.

Top two are a little far gone to ID. Don't think they're juvenile blue nose. I'll have to keep thinking about that one.

Middle fish is almost certainly a Centralophid (bluenose/warehou family) of some sort, but who knows which one. When they're that fresh they're worth chilling and sending to Te Papa for a proper ID.

Bottom one is a "who knows"??

Can't be anymore help than that sorry.
