Hi kiwifred, yes its a bit embarrassing, but a few layers of kawahai ookie bits should take the gloss off.

hi all

must be just about time for another gathering of the wellington kayak fishing club. i have spoken to Jim at C & K and we should get an email out soon as to the date. anyone who wants to know the details let me know or call Jim and/or Andy at Canoe and Kayak to get put on the email list.

went out on sunday and what a great morning it was flat calm with no wind. stopped half way to soames and sat for a while ended up with some kahawai. then off to somes. lots of bites but nothing of keepable value. got a bit close to the resident seal and got chased for my troubles. was sitting about 500m off the south end of the island and was watching the wind get closer as the southerlie crept in. finaly got to me and thought i had better do a runner as i had left the windbreaker behind. was a good fast run back to petone with a tail wind and lots of surfing on the waves. passed a double yak heading the other way at about the halfway mark and when i got to the wharf they passed me heading in after getting to somes and turning around. mind you they had a sail and they were going for it. might have to look at getting one

regards Erik

Hi guys, i went to pukerua on sunday, having slept in so got out and anchored in a sand hole just in time for the south-easterly to come buffetting over the hill - and of course blow me around till the anchor was well stuck, and i was fishing over red perch central. Cut the anchor off after several near misses in the huge tide ripping through and the nasty gusty crosswind. By then it was a solid offshore wind so with no anchor I headed back in, a little wiser. Me and the cats had to have canned tuna for lunch

See you at the club nite,
cheers, Gordon

Nodrog, did you guys catch anything else besides a tan? Smile

I would have liked to be out there too but someone needs to be at home helping with 2 sick kids and overseeing the moving of 7.5 truckloads of dirt from the backyardConfused.

Yeah it was a ripper afternoon out weather wise (Me, Nodrog and Stu), far to good to expect fish to play.

Between us we got three good big gurnard including one that absolutley monstered a softplastic (and woke me up from my dozing in the sun)

The odd thing is we got swarmed by undersized snapper, heaps of them. I've never experienced this in Wellington before, usually we get just a few snapper but their all pretty decent sized.

Hopefully it indicates that they are breeding in bigger numbers down here.

Any theories out there?
