It's certainly a ton of fun....solo fishing missions are great, a time to contemplate, enjoy ones own company and escape....challenging tho when both rods go off. The 95cm one especially...8kg line, 12kg trace, 2/0 hook that got severely straightened by the time I got it to the boat...I will continue tho to sing the praises of the little Penn Fathom 12 reel and Powerjig "the wings" rod, serious, super smooth drag!!!!!
if your boyfriend doesn't like fishing....you have a girlfriend

Managed to sneak out for a few hours on Friday arvo, was starting to get quite lumpy out there. Picked up a couple of decent snapper on slow jigs. Plenty of good looking sign on the sounder but they weren't that hungry except for one drift that produced both fish.

Went out this arvo into the Harbour, Very dirty water , a bit like fishing in a cup of coffee, I didn't know if the fish could find my hooks , but 1st drop a gurnard, then dropped 4kg of burly into the soup, Slow but steady fishing and unless the fish swum into my hooks by accident , they seemed to be able to see enough to find the hooks, ended up with a good catchI didnt catch the milk bottle that is for scale, Biggest snap 52 cm.Finally a Beautiful evening in Wellington, and burnt only a few litres gas

Nice catch King Con. Tauranga harbour fishes well when it goes murky like that. How deep were you?

Was about 15kt northerly when Simon and I headed out to the trench for bluenose this morning, didn't take long for the forecast 20 to come up making it very difficult out there - no bluenose. Came in closer around 80m near Baring head and tried for some tics, got a dozen and then this beaut! Caught on a smaller than 1/0 hook, took about 10 mins to get it in going easy on the light gear. Chuffed!

Nice fish! Will have been some decent fillets on that. Were you straylining or on a slow jig and how deep? Good to see a cold beverage no doubt deserved after the scrap with the 12 lber!

Yes Kapitifisho, the fillets were bigger than the chopping board,  I was  using a bought ledger rig , and i thought it was a kingi, till it surfaced. I wish i had just stopped at that one beverage

Kapiti was stunning yesterday - all fish on the bite. We caught several big snaps (50cm+) on scarpie fillets ;) Heaps of terri's, blue cod, a trev and even a lone red cod. Also a few big lemon fish. Not too sure about those so we released them. Tried for tuna but the blue water was patchy at best and got not hits. A buddy reported almost landing a big one that spat the hook just as he was trying to net it so they are around :)

We went hunting Kingis on Saturday, lovely day for it but couldn't find the fish for the life of me. Got a nice BC on a slowjig and a pannie Snapper from 15 minutes fishing on the way back in but a very slow day. Looked like most people binned up on the Snaps, should have just targeted them by the sounds of things.

Hopefully a few boats got out this morning before the NW returned - could be awhile before it backs off again

My parents had their Challenger 565 boat stolen from Papakowhai, Porirua/Wellington area 1 Feb 2017. Prescott trailer Reg # E800H
Mariner 115 engine and also Mariner trolling engine so quite a rare combination - very easy to spot at the boat ramp and often complimented on.
The trailer has spare wheel and the blue trim and canopies are a unique combination.
If anyone turns up at the boat ramp this weekend with "their" new boat with this colour combo and Mariner engines please take car rego down and report. Likely to now have a different plate on the trailer.
Please contact [email protected] or phone/txt 0274755977 if you see this boat. Highly likely the scum that stole it will be on the water this long weekend.

x-post but worthwhile given the lack of activity on the WN diving thread - Notice from WCC that there's been a wastewater overflow at Moa Point and marine activities should be avoided for 48hrs

damned ipad must be broken again; keep going to Swellmap and the screen only shows reds and oranges. Must've blown a gasket on the blues.
